Included is an address given at a conference by Vincent Harding, Director of the Institute of the Black World, which considers the potential of education to change society. Another article, “The Gift of Integrated Education…Was it Worth the Sales Tax?” by Cynthia Dixon, highlights the educational disadvantages faced by black children in America. There are editorials by Lois Coleman and Mike Gibson concerning the work still needed to combat racism and inequality in the US. Also included is a piece addressing the issues of American aesthetics by Hoyt Fuller, an article discussing Angola’s struggle for independence from Portugal, and a report of the state of Nixon’s “Law and Order” bill.
