Olson, Charles, 1910-1970
The Battle of Belleau Wood (June 1-26, 1918) occurred during the German Spring Offensive in World War I, near the Marne River in France. The battle was fought between US, French and British forces and German units. Photograph made during ten week tour of Europe awarded to Charles Olson for taking third place in Northeast Oratory Championships (May 26, 1928). Tour was made during the Summer of 1928.
