[This information by Robert Joseph Belletzkie: This station was built by the New York & New England Railroad in 1888 and burned on August 19, 1929, about a year after the photograph was taken. Benton's traveling companion Irving Drake and his car are nowhere to be seen. The East Hartford yard, which stood to the photographer’s left, was a major division point for the railroad. A nearly identical NY&NE station still stands (as of 2017) in Forestville, Connecticut, the iconic tower long gone.] Show less
