Thcsday, Septcrrbcr 21, 1976 Oomrccticut lhily (‘anpus Page 9 NBC and Lipizzan stallions head area events The rare, white stallions of the 400-year-old Lipizzan breed will appear in Hartford, Oct. 9-10. when the “Wonderful World of Horses" comes to the Civic Center. More than 20 of the Royal Lipizzan Stallions will perform in a two-hour equestrian show .that combines exhibitions of individ- ual horsemanship with coordin- ated movements by the entire troupe. Special acts will include Edith Evans. famous as one of only six female “rejoneadoras" - horse- back bullfighters - in the world. Her act features a ballet by her trained Andalusians and many of the movements associated with bullfighting. Also scheduled is David Jay, who appears in Roman costume with his American Saddlebred, Sheik. The Royal Lipizzan Stallion Show is a pageantry of classical horsemanship, elaborate staging and traditional costumes inspired by the famed Spanish Riding School of Vienna. The $6.50, $5.50 and $4.50 tickets may be ordered by mail from the Civic Center. Tickets also will be on sale at the box office and at all Ticketron outlets. Performance times are 8 p.m., Saturday. Oct. 9. and 2:30 p.m., Sunday. Oct. 10. Litchfield arts and crafts More than 60 exhibitors Will again assemble in Litchfield this fall for a juried arts and crafts show. The Fifth Annual Litchfield Arts and Crafts Show-Sale will be held indoors at the Litchfield Junior High School on Route 202 the week-end of October 9-10. Visitors may view the exhibits from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. The exhibitors will represent not only Connecticut but also Massachusetts. New Hampshire, New York and New Jersey. Only handcrafted work will be exhibit- ed. Returning craftsmen along with new craftsmen will present their leathercraft, wood carving, scrimshaw, basketry, weaving, macrame. pottery, pewterware. gold and silver jewelry, patch- work. watercolor paintings, and hand-dipped candles plus many more creative crafts. Doll clothes, stuffed animals. and dollhouse furniture will be among the items of interest for children at this year's Show-Sale.
