Most students adjusted to the sudden crispness in the air, rolling down their sleeves and donning jackets and sweatshirts, with only a few die-hard sun worshippers reported as wearing shorts. The cool and sunny weather sent some of the students who might ordinarily have gone to the Dairy Bar heading for the apple salesroom, where an employee Wednesday afternoon described busi- ness as an improvement over the

At one point, a particularly enthusias- tic Irish Setter loped along the water’s edge, sending the ducks off the water and into the air in perfect flying formation.
Lawns on Gilbert road were littered with leaves already fallen Wednesday, but elsewhere on campus, the trees were just beginning to tarnish from the green of summer, with a splash of red of yellow here and there which promised that the hills will burst into colorful fire
A cold front moving down from Central Canada was officially responsible for the crisp weather which greeted students, but to UConn it was just the first day of autumn.
