UConn Free Press

1969 to 2016
The initial UConn Free Press began as a leftist periodical published by a collective group of leftists from the storrs/uconn community, all as volunteers, including faculty, students, ex-students, and others. It was produced in a basement of the inner college house on route 195 next to Mansfield Supply. All subsequent iterations were created as an alternative student newspaper produced by University of Connecticut students Free Press Club continuing periodically into the 2010s. The newspaper discusses major themes and actions around social justice, anti-war, and anti-authoritarianism at the local, national, and international level. The format for the newspaper changes from traditional newsprint to magazine and zine formats utilizing digital design.
