[Additional information from Robert Joseph Belletzkie: The grandeur of the 1888 Branford, Connecticut, station was perhaps unmatched in the state. Lewis Herbert Benton caught the sweeping curve, the rounded turret rising skyward and the covershed and platform that mirror the bend in the track. The station was demolished in 1939 after damage sustained in the hurricane of the previous year and declining patronage that encouraged the then-bankrupt New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad to downsize.
