Show moreSite F: Surveyed 30 June 2012 by Capers and Slack. There were two transects in Site F, each with 10 qudarats. Location: On west side of Alpine Garden Trail in Alpine Garden. Two transects were run horizontally (along contour) across the snowbed, T1 higher than the second one, T2. Top of transect at 44°16'31.3" N, 71°17'37.8" W Elevation: 5571 feet. This is part of the data set that provides quantitative data on the abundance and frequency of vascular plants, bryophytes and lichens which are lacking for snowbed and rill communities above treeline in northeastern North America. Such data are needed to establish whether the communities are changing in response to climate warming, nitrogen deposition, or shifts in the timing of precipitation and snowmelt. Show less
