This photograph shows the 190-foot lighthouse tender “Tulip” which was swept up into the main line of the New Haven Railroad in New London, contributing to a complete paralysis of railroad transportation for weeks following the hurricane. It took crews over two weeks to dredge five thousand yards of mud, sand and rock to create a waterway to get the boat back into the water. Show less
