The collection contains correspondence from Sergeant Donald C. Bliss to his parents, sister and friends during his time spent in France in 1918 and 1919. His correspondence is primarily to his parents and contains descriptions of several army construction projects, brief vacations from camp, and his experiences as a singer in the army. His letters often discuss seasonal and domestic activity at home in Jewett City and consistently share information about his health, state of mind, diet and leisure activity.
