Description
Flat base expanding diameter Pemberton Meadows basket. Inside is decorated with polychromatic geometric pattern. Bottom center is decorated with a six pointed star pattern. Damage to bottom center. Accompanying note reads" Pemberton Meadows Basket made by the finest weaver of the Thompson River Indians. The design represents the stars. Material is cedar root for foundation and squaw grass for ornamentation. Black is dipped in earth to obtain black. Red is from wild cherry. the white is natural grass from the Pemberton mountains, British Columbia.
