Description
A barge with a crane and block and tackle is in the Connecticut River just below the Charter Oak Bridge. Men, one of them wearing overalls, stand on the barge. An anchor is visible hanging over the bow. Electrical cable from a large reel on the barge extends into the water. A man wearing a jacket, hat and trousers stands on a stone pier or embankment in the right foreground. Leafless trees and electrical towers are on the East Hartford shore in the background. Inscription typewritten on back: " 'Power Assured,' January '51 issue, submarine cable installaion, / Nov. 9 and 10, '50 Discard"
