Man Maya began carpet work at age 10 after becoming homeless as a result of her father’s alcoholism. Though illiterate at the time of her rescue, she completed the seventh grade, and enrolled in a vocational training and job placement program. Today she works as a seamstress in her home community in Nepal’s Terai District. (Kathmandu, Nepal, 2000)
