Description
The East Freetown railroad station was located in Freetown, Massachusetts and was a stop on the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad when this shot was taken. The station was previously operated by the Old Colony Railroad before that company was leased by the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad in 1893. Photograph taken by Lewis Herbert Benton. There is a man posed in front of the depot. The bicycle viewed at right most likely belongs to Benton and is seen in many of the early photos. Presumably he took it with him on the train and used it to travel to intermediate station stops. Description provided by Robert Joseph Belletzkie.
