Description
Letter addressed from Williamsburg, with a postmark for Huntingdon and the date written in by hand. The paper is torn and stained with red wax residue where it was sealed. John Boyd, business partner of Jonathan Butler's son William Gay Butler, writes to Jonathan on receipt of a letter from him in which Jonathan complained of an unexpected claim by Pratt against him resulting from his endorsement of Boyd and Butler's note. Boyd writes that he had some time ago sent Jonathan a draft for $260 through R. Miller, Jr., and Co., and that the forwarded drafts should cover the whole amount of Pratt's note. He says William said nothing to him about this in his recent letter, and notes that he is now headed to Erie and in good health.
