Description
New York & New England Railroad 4-4-0 steam locomotive 183, built January 21, 1892 by the Rogers Locomotive & Machine Works; 18"x24" cylinders, 63" driving wheels. Renumbered by the New York, New Haven & Hartford Railroad as 1083, and again renumbered as 1655. Scrapped November 21, 1923. The photograph was taken at the New York & New England Railroad's terminal station in Boston at the foot of Summer Street. Boston's South Station was built later on this site. The renowned locomotive engineer Gene Potter may be seen in the cab.
