Description
Letter addressed from Greencastle, PA. John Boyd, business partner of Jonathan Butler's son William Gay Butler, writes to Jonathan with a proposal. Under this proposal, Jonathan would advance funds to support the business of Boyd and Butler in Pennsylvania, and receive interest or a share in the proceeds of the firm in return. Boyd writes that he cannot insist on the idea himself, being a stranger, but that Jonathan should do what he thinks right for his son, and if Boyd should benefit he would be thankful and seek to satisfy Jonathan in all matters. He writes that he has enclosed a power of attorney and would be satisfied if Jonathan went only so far as that, but that he should like him to do only what is fully satisfactory. No enclosure remains with the letter.
