Description
Circular letters and telegrams sent from the Council Headquarters in Hartford, Connecticut, to town defense council representatives for their help in securing nurses to work in hospitals, and particularly at Fort Devens in Massachusetts, during the influenza epidemic. Several towns gave the number of nurses sent, but others gave the actual names of the nurses. One telegram says not to send "colored" nurses.
